I first met Roger whilst researching my family tree, Having phoned numerous Preece's, I got in touch via his sister who was very quiet and must of thought I was some kind of nut with my enthusiasm and stories of long list relatives.. Luckily, she passed on my message and we spoke, on the phone, I must say Roger was as enthusiastic as I was to my delight.
My wife jacki and I went up and met both Roger and Gill, and immediately hit it off. I can never explain the connection we had, they felt it too. My great grandfather and Rogers grandfather were brothers, 2 out of 11 children to farm workers in llangarron and earlier times at St woenards.
As the visits increased, the incredible friendship grew stronger and stronger. I can honestly say after visiting them both, I felt a better person, as I said I can't explain it, liking it possibly to a child's mind of seeing favourite relatives, grandparents etc, both Roger and gills generosity of their time and how they cared for my family, meant they hold a very special place in our hearts
Du tto covid and the effects it has, we've been unable to visit for far too long now, and the tragic news came as we were starting to think about the possibility of returning to thesez special people.
I just want to say... Roger, you made a massive impa t on my life, just by being the lovely person you was, and Gill, we dearly hope we can stay in touch and come to see you like we did before.
Sending all our love Paul, Jacki, Penny, Lauren and family xxx❤️
